We at Schneider Electric believe that developing our employees to their full potential is the best way for us to achieve our company mission and purpose. Everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue a career that’s uniquely theirs.
Taking part in Career Week is just one way we empower our employees to take ownership of their own development, with the support of their managers and made possible by our Open Talent Market
Although future work trends are difficult to predict, we can be proactive in managing our career development. There is a great deal of opportunity at Schneider Electric to learn on-the-job, expand your skill set through training programs, mentoring and coaching-regardless of your career stage.
Our theme for Career week 2022 is the Power of Networking. This year focuses on the importance of building connections that will allow you to shape your unique future. Here are some quick tips to consider that will help you get started:
-
Identify a mentor to support your development.
Do you have a mentor that aligns to your career ambitions and areas you would like to deepen your knowledge? Perhaps it is time to develop a mentoring relationship and expand your network!
-
When was the last time you had a career check-in with your manager?
It is important to have regular touch-points throughout the year to discuss your development and ask for feedback to get ready for the next challenge. Make the most of your time with your manager by taking this opportunity to reflect upon your career aspirations. Then, act on them, in partnership with others, so that you can achieve your fullest potential and build your career.
-
Take a step outside of your comfort zone.
Feeling inspired to try something new? Have you ever considered taking on a stretch assignment? You might consider learning in a new industry, transferring across different business areas, or changing roles at a national, regional, and global level, all the while focusing on and contributing to your strengths and passion. Taking risks is part of what it takes to say yes to roles that you might not always feel ready for. After all, it would be too easy if it was comfortable.
Career growth does not happen by accident. It is a journey that takes time, a lot of hard work, and some patience. There are three things you need to prepare for:
- Know your abilities
- Plan in advance
- Put a lot of effort into the process.
It’s never too early to start a conversation that will help you unlock a better you, in which you can share your knowledge, learn about different career paths and development opportunities, and gain fresh ideas & skills.
