It’s self-proclaimed “The World’s Most Important Gathering of CIOs and Senior IT Executives” — the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2015, taking place October 5-8. Attendees, speakers and sponsors gather together to discover and discuss the latest technology trends that will affect business.
Last year, the event was themed: Driving the Digital Business. It featured, for example, virtual personal assistants, smart advisors and covered the impending change to our lifestyle; what Gartner calls, “blurring the lines between the digital and the physical worlds, disrupting all industries and redefining the role of IT.”
This year, the digital wave continues and Gartner is asking us to “Rise to the Challenge,” where mission-critical priorities must align to drive business outcomes. Smart machines and the IoT continue to change our world. Good stuff! Where do we fit into all this?
That’s exactly what I will be discussing in my presentation “Micro Data Centers: The Perfect Choice for Edge Computing,” on Tuesday, October 6 from 1:45 – 2:15 pm at the Symposium and what we will be displaying at our booth 443.
The Network
In particular, I will focus on the benefits of localized data centers on the network edge, how the worlds of IT and telecommunications networking are converging and how new capabilities can be deployed into the network; i.e. the ability to run IT based servers at the network edge, applying the concepts of cloud computing.
See you at the show!
