Improving traceability: 3 effective use cases

The ability to trace the source, movement, and consumption of goods in a supply chain has never been more critical. This traceability—and the ability to access documents with ease, access critical sustainability data, and authenticate products—is transformational. At Schneider Electric, we understand that improving traceability in operations is crucial for modern businesses. So far, we have implemented a QR code to 7,000 SKUs bringing customers transparency at their fingertips. Here’s three of the effective use cases for customers.

Digital documentation

With the increasing digitalization of processes, businesses can now automate document generation, distribution, and storage. Efficient handling of paperwork processes not only speeds up operations but improves traceability of records needed, from compliance certificates to end-of-life instructions. This automation reduces human errors and makes it easy to trace the lifecycle of every operational process on the document trail.

So far, we have digitized documentation for RM6 medium voltage switchboards and Galaxy VX power protection ranges with easy navigation across all sections of the lifecycle, from Install, to Operate, Maintain, and Monitor. Information includes the general product information in a variety of key languages, as well as asset-specific information like routine test certificates, single line diagrams, and digital twins.

Supply transparency & sustainability

As stakeholders (including consumers, regulators, and investors) heighten their demands for sustainable supply chains, businesses may struggle to provide the clear and concrete evidence needed. Schneider Electric’s solutions recognize this issue—providing comprehensive information including environmental and CO2 footprints, plus biodiversity impact.

Product authentication

Counterfeit goods are not just harmful to a brand’s reputation—they can pose significant risks to customers. Schneider Electric is taking steps to put the control in the customer’s hands to authenticate our products. Soon, customers will be able to verify that the Schneider Electric products they have purchased are authentic, tracing the chain from the production line to the end-user.

Our aim is to equip customers with solutions that heighten transparency and boost operational efficiency. As the world moves towards a more interconnected and sustainable model, traceability will remain a vital component for businesses striving to maintain a competitive edge while ensuring impeccable customer satisfaction. Schneider Electric is working on improving traceability to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of your operations.
