From Apprentice to Business Development Manager

I’m Autumn. I love connecting with people, learning as I go, and making an impact wherever I can. At Schneider Electric, I’ve found the perfect environment to explore new opportunities and grow my skills. Outside of work, I stay active, enjoy sport, and make time for the things that energise me.

How It Started

I joined Schneider through their degree apprenticeship in sales, juggling full-time work and studying at the same time. It was challenging, but it taught me how to manage my time and adapt fast. Early on, I rotated through engineering, sales, and marketing teams. That mix gave me a solid technical base and a good sense of how different teams work together.

Now, from an apprenticeship to a Business Development Manager, I look after our electrical and industrial partners in the UK&I, focusing on building partnerships and driving growth!

Milestones That Shaped Me

Transitioning into a fully sales-focused role in data centres was a defining step in my career, it gave me a new perspective on combining technical knowledge with commercial thinking.
Stepping out of my comfort zone, whether presenting, taking on new roles or managing new accounts, has shaped how I tackle challenges today.

Growing Through Experience

Adaptability has probably been the most valuable skill I’ve gained. Moving between roles and teams taught me how to adjust quickly and contribute wherever I’m needed. Problem solving and communication have also been key, especially when bridging the technical and commercial sides of the business.

When transitioning from an end-user focus to a partner channel role, I had to quickly build industry awareness and understand where our solutions fit across different markets. Schneider offered many opportunities for product training, sales development, and even showcasing at events like the ‘Retail Technology Show’ and ‘Data Centre World’. These experiences helped me see the bigger picture and connect with the right people.

A Project That Stands Out

One project that really sticks with me was a university infrastructure upgrade. Working with a partner, we implemented Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and smart software that kept their systems running, especially valuable given their limited staff.

What made it special? I was studying at university at the same time, so I got to apply what I was learning straight away. Seeing the impact of my work firsthand was a huge motivator.

Life at Schneider Electric

Schneider Electric’s culture is built on support and opportunity. From day one, I had access to mentors, training, and the freedom to take ownership. Two incredible mentors guided me early on, helping me find my footing.

It’s a place that encourages you to learn by doing, explore new paths, and grow in the direction that excites you. Being trusted from the start and working with purpose makes me proud to contribute and motivated to keep evolving.

My Advice to Young Talents

Stay curious and open. Ask questions, try new things, and don’t worry about getting everything perfect straight away. Make the most of the people around you because the connections you build can really help you grow. And remember, your career doesn’t have to follow a straight line! The experiences you pick up along the way often take you in directions you wouldn’t have expected.

What’s next?

I’m excited to keep growing, building partnerships, and exploring new areas of the business within Schneider Electric. I love learning along the way and seeing the impact of what I do.

I’m also passionate about supporting early-career talent, sharing my experiences, and helping others find their path while I continue to discover mine.   So, if you are looking for an opportunity to power your impact, make sure to check all the opportunities waiting for you!
