Schneider Electric’s European Mentoring Program: Empowering a Sustainable Future

The inception of our Schneider Electric European Mentoring Program is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and inclusion. Schneider Electric was recently recognized by Time Magazine and Statista as one of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies in 2024, reflecting not only our ambitious goals to reduce our own emissions, but also our commitment to helping our customers become more energy efficient.

Sustainability lies at the heart of our corporate strategy, encompassing environmental, social, and governance performance.

Social is one of the 3 pillars of sustainability

I invite you to read more about our Sustainability Report, showcasing our strong dedication to equality through gender diversity initiatives and opportunities for the next generation. All this, obviously, in alignment with our employee value proposition: Impact Starts with Us.

Our Employee Value Proposition serves as an invitation for all individuals associated with Schneider Electric to contribute to our sustainability mission, regardless of their role, and to align their careers with the pursuit of a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable world. These values are not merely symbolic; they embody our unique cultural identity and guide our daily operations, breathing life into our growth culture.

Opportunities for talented women

With this in mind, we wanted to offer a unique program that seamlessly aligns with these values, aiming to foster inclusivity and inspire young women to pursue careers in fields of engineering, digitization, and sustainability. That’s how we came up with the idea of launching our first European Women Mentoring Program.

What a better way to share our invaluable internal resources so that talented young women, looking for practical advice and a rewarding human experience, can discover the world of business in a new way. An opportunity to grow through practical advice drawn from real-life experience, and benefit from training sessions on both technical and human skills.

Originally, we have intended to pair 30 mentees with 30 mentors. Yet the external traction we received overwhelmed us. We received over 1400 applications from great individuals eager to participate! With such an inspiring level of engagement with over 150 Schneider Electric employees volunteering to be a mentor, we decided to increase the number of seats to 110 tandems.

The success of this program is a testament to the dedication of the project team. They have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this initiative to fruition. We are excited to witness the positive impact and growth that will arise from this collective effort, as we continue to advance the values of sustainability, inclusivity, and professional development within Schneider Electric and beyond.

After a thorough selection, we finally officially kick off the 6 months program mid-September. We are delighted by the great early feedback from our participants on the human connection, and as a result, we are looking forward to sharing great stories by the end of the program – so, stay tuned!
