The data center industry is booming and colocation provider RagingWire is growing as well — at twice the industry average. As part of NTT Communications, RagingWire is a global data center colocation company that delivers 100% availability, high density power, flexible configurations, carrier neutral connectivity and superior customer service and amenities, ideal for at scale computing.

A longstanding partner of Schneider Electric, RagingWire designs, builds and operates over 1.2 million feet of data center infrastructure with 97 megawatts of power in Northern California, Ashburn, VA, and Dallas, TX.

Ashburn VA2 opened on April 28, 2016 and is the company’s most efficient data center yet with PUE of 1.3, according to Douglas Adams, president of RagingWire. With 140,000 square feet of data center space and 14 megawatts of power, VA2 is ideal for cloud providers and enterprises that need excellent performance and room to grow.

“VA2 is one of our flagship facilities. It was designed and built with wholesale data center solutions in mind; for the largest internet and cloud companies and Fortune 1000 enterprises to deploy their critical computing systems,” he says. “VA2 features seven turnkey vaults and highly flexible colocation configurations.”

Specifications include 70,000 square feet of raised floor space, customer conference rooms and lounge areas, massive telecommunications, multi-layered security systems and full-time onsite security officers, and the company’s patented “2N+2” design for double redundancy.

The design, along with cutting-edge technology, ensures the facility is able to handle such density. Two megawatt vaults can be divided into one megawatt private suites or combined for a multi-megawatt, massively scalable deployment.

VA2 is fully integrated and fiber connected with RagingWire’s Ashburn VA1 Data Center and others in Data Center Alley. Customers can also directly connect to the top cloud providers and SaaS solutions.

Innovative Work Spaces

The operational environment with its cut away viewing spaces is vastly different than most data centers and adds to the lure of VA2.

“We want our customers’ employees to enjoy the environment they work in,” he says. “Some are onsite working at 2 am, for example, and they need to be comfortable to be productive and happy. Data centers don’t have to be just a bunch of grey boxes. We have moved beyond that typical work environment.”

In fact, customer satisfaction is extraordinarily important to RagingWire and the company boasts the highest Net Promoter Score (NPS) in the industry. “We iterate based on customer feedback,” Douglas explains. “Our growth is driven by the fact that we listen to our customers and create a facility they want to be in and a workplace in which their employees are proud to be a part.”

Looking ahead, in addition to the existing VA1 and VA2 data centers, RagingWire has broken ground on VA3, a 2,000,000-square-foot data center campus on 78 acres of land in Ashburn. In the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the company is leasing its new Dallas TX1 Data Center Campus with 1,000,000-square-feet of space on 42 acres of land.

Douglas says, “We’ll continue our cut away data center strategy in future facilities. The Texas location, for example, features a sky walk over the raised floor and an observation room to view the facility infrastructure in action. Interactive touch screens are placed throughout the tour route to help visitors learn about how the data center works.”
