In an age when cyberattacks can happen at any moment, cybersecurity certifications accomplish an important purpose – they validate that a Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software vendor is doing the hard work needed to implement robust security measures.
I am proud to announce the EcoStruxure™ IT team has achieved ISO 27001 certification for EcoStruxure IT Expert, our cloud-based DCIM software solution. This new certification represents our team’s commitment to the highest standards of information security management. By putting these industry standards in place, we are assuring customers and partners of the reliability and security of our systems because we have incorporated industry best practices into our operations.
A three-year process to obtain ISO 27001
Cybersecurity certifications are not simple to achieve or a one-and-done approach. These efforts require an on-going investment of time, money, and resources. I believe that obtaining certifications demonstrates your organization is serious about cybersecurity.
Achieving ISO 27001 was a three-year process. The result is we have achieved an international standard for information security management systems that provides a systematic approach to managing sensitive company information, ensuring it remains secure. This includes people, processes, and IT systems by applying a risk management process.

Risk never sleeps and new threats emerge
We understand that risk never sleeps and new threats emerge: there is always another security level to reach for and obtain. Cybersecurity is a constant and evolving process. This new certification builds on our commitment to cybersecurity. Our Network Management Card platform (NMC) was the first in the industry to obtain the IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 (SL2) designation from the International Electrotechnical Commission in October 2024. This new and higher level of cybersecurity certification underscores Schneider Electric’s position as an industry leader in secure operations. SL2 certification provides more stringent requirements and increased security resiliency than SL1, which the EcoStruxure IT team obtained in 2023.
Simplifying the process of installing firmware is part of the solution
We know that organizations are finding it difficult to keep up with firmware updates, which are a key part of cybersecurity. Many enterprise customers manage their critical power and cooling infrastructure with their own in-house management tools, third-party network management tools, or building management systems. These systems don’t know when the firmware at connected endpoints – particularly in distributed and edge environments – requires an update.
This challenge is why we introduced a Secure NMC System Tool that transforms the process of researching and installing the latest firmware on all devices, making the process up to 90% faster. Just imagine no more searching for firmware, checking to make sure that particular firmware is the latest one for your device, and reading the release notes to understand what’s included in the new version. Instead, the Secure NMC System Tool notifies customers that new firmware is available and directs them to install the new version. The benefits of this new, streamlined approach are many including: no more fear of being outdated, the ability to achieve consistent compliance, and, of course, reduced exposure to potential attack.
Doing the hard work for customers and partners
As I like to say, our cybersecurity certifications ensure the EcoStruxure IT team has done the hard work for our customers and partners. I view our investment in certifications as a necessary way to ensure we are following best practices to minimize cyber risk in development processes. Certifications provide a wealth of benefits for customers and partners, chief among them: enhanced security posture, customer trust and confidence, regulatory compliance, improved business continuity, and operational efficiency.
Congratulations to the EcoStruxure IT team for its vision and hard work on achieving ISO 27001 certification for EcoStruxure IT Expert.
