Attendees began to line up an hour before Tuesday’s Keynote given by CEO John Chambers and the line stretched down and around the main hallway outside the hall. The presentation started off with a video of a daring bike rider doing stunning acrobatic tricks, Cisco states “What You Make Possible.” Suddenly a dozen cyclists adorned the floor performing stunts. The amazement didn’t stop there, as the keynote was introduced with some jaw dropping statistics. This was the largest, record breaking CiscoLive event yet with 17,000 people in attendance and 125,000 people joining virtually and for 42% of attendees this was their first CiscoLive.

Cisco CEO John Chambers took the stage and spoke of the future. “Nothing is future proof but with leadership and values like this it is as close as you can be,” he stated, thanking attendees for their continued confidence in Cisco. The top 3 topics of interest from attendees this year are Cisco’s innovation, technology trends, and market transitions. Last year’s number one business objective was growth, but it took second place this year to cost reduction and productivity.

The Keynote wrapped up with a Demo, given by Cisco Chief Demo Officer Jim Grubb, on Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) an open protocol that Cisco is developing that will enable mobility on many levels. In the demo, the user is attending a meeting on their home wifi system but needs to relocate to their office. Without loosing connection to the meeting on the tablet the individual is able to switch from the home wifi, to their mobile 3G or 4G network, then to their offices internet. Chambers then returned to the stage saying the future of the hyper connected world with video excited him the most with Cisco’s vision being mobile, social, visual, and virtual.
