Satish Kumar's professional and business interests are focused on or surrounding the topic of energy efficiency, energy management, sustainability, smart grid and cities and establishing a business case of energy efficiency. Satish Kumar's professional and business interests are focused on or surrounding the topic of energy efficiency, energy management, sustainability, smart grid and cities and establishing a business case of energy efficiency. He has worked as a research scientist, energy policy expert, consultant to govt. organizations and ministries, and helped establish non profit organizations in the US and in India in the aforementioned field. Satish has been with Schneider Electric India since January 2011. He is the Energy Efficiency Ambassador and Vice President - responsible for formulating and executing the influence strategy, and heading the team responsible for driving a KPI-driven in-house energy management program for Schneider Electric India facilities. Prior to this, he headed a bilateral initiative between the US and India Government which is widely regarded as one of the largest and most successful national building energy efficiency programs (www.eco3.org) in India advising and supporting BEE. Before moving back to India in 2006, Satish was a Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) where he worked for more than 11 years. He has a B. Arch. from IIT, Roorkee and a Ph.D. in Building Science (with strong interdisciplinary grounding in Computer Science and Public Policy) from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Efficiency Valuation Organization and a co-founder and Vice-Chair of the Executive Council of the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy. He also serves on the Board of Studies for Faculty of Design, CEPT University, Global Buildings Performance Networks (GBPN), and IBPSA India and is an adjunct faculty member at IIM Ahmedabad. Satish is a LEED AP (Building Construction and Design), Certified Energy Manager and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional.
