My Life as an Employer Branding Student Assistant at Schneider Electric

Hi there, I’m Teresa, an Employer Branding Student Assistant here at Schneider Electric. I joined the company in May 2024, so I’m still quite new. But I have gained many valuable first impressions which I would like to share with you today.

A Welcoming Start: The Diverse & Inclusive Culture

Since my start, one of the biggest things I have noticed is how kind all the people are at Schneider Electric. From day one, everyone has been so welcoming and always ready to offer a helping hand. As a very social and extroverted person myself this is something I place a lot of value on. I gain energy and inspiration from the people around me and have found a workplace where this quality can thrive.

I also really appreciate the diversity of the people, coming from all kinds of different backgrounds, nationalities, ethnicities, etc. Coming from quite an international background; being born in Austria, growing up in Denmark, going to high school in Singapore, studying my bachelor’s in the Netherlands, working in Germany for two years, and now having moved back to Denmark for my master’s. That’s why I love discovering new cultures, languages, and learning about people from all walks of life. This is really promoted at Schneider Electric with different initiatives making sure that all employees feel included.

Autonomy & Flexibility: My Student Experience

In the Employer Branding team, I work a lot with creating content for all kinds of different channels. For example, to educate about our new IMPACT values and raise awareness. I have felt that from very early on I was given a lot of freedom and autonomy with my tasks. As a student who works two days per week this is not necessarily a given. So it is something I really appreciate.

There are moments in the semester where I have to focus more on university. However, during the summer I have some more time and can put in some extra hours at work. Fortunately, I have the flexibility at Schneider that allows me to move my working days around if I need to. This has been incredibly helpful in managing working and studying at the same time, and allows for a well-balanced work life.

Social Entrepreneurship & Sustainability at Schneider Electric

As a Social Entrepreneurship and Management master’s student, I am learning a lot about how social business works and how companies can function more sustainably. Not only on a social level, but on an environmental and economic level too. I think nowadays focusing on these topics is the only way we can move forward. This is something that drew me to Schneider Electric to begin with. And I can say that the company is really walking the talk in that regard.

We were recently named the world’s most sustainable company 2024 by TIME and Statista. It feels nice to be a part of a company that contributes to a movement our world needs so urgently. While I haven’t been part of the organisation for long, I have already learned a lot and feel very much a part of the Schneider Electric family. I hope I was able to give some insight into what it’s like to be an Employer Branding Student Assistant here.
