In August 2021, we conducted a survey with 11,000+ employees across 6 countries in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam) to ask if they are having a great experience working at Schneider Electric. Our employees have proudly said “YES”, and this helps us to be officially certified as a Great Place To Work!
This certification is a world-class recognition given by Great Place To Work, the global authority on workplace culture. Since 1992, they have surveyed more than 100 million employees around the world and used those deep insights to define what makes a great workplace. Therefore, getting certified for 6 countries simultaneously is a proud demonstration of our continuous effort in building a great company for our #SEGreatPeople, by providing them meaningful work with an inclusive and empowered culture and workplace!
A Cause We Are All Aligned With
In our recent Employee Engagement survey, more than 80% of employees say that they feel aligned with our purpose, which is to empower all to make the most of our energy and resources bridging progress and sustainability for all. Through their work, our employees contribute to ensuring that Life Is On everywhere, for everyone, at every moment. From the Field Services Engineers who go the extra miles to make sure critical facilities like hospitals, banks, and data centers are secured from a power supply stand point; to our HR colleagues who coordinate restlessly health & safety measures and vaccination efforts to ensure that our employees are all safe and sound. From our business leaders who pour their heart and mind into ensuring job security for their employees while strategically sustain and prepare the business for the brighter future; to our frontline salespeople who strive the best to serve our customers knowing that everything has been well backed up. Every action counts, and they all together create the meaningful cause that we are all aligned to.
Beyond Diversity
We are delighted when seeing in our Great Place To Work results that more than 85% of our employees believe that they are treated fairly regardless of their race, gender, age, sexual orientation, or position! Our philosophy is to provide equal opportunities to everyone everywhere and to ensure all employees feel uniquely valued and safe to contribute their best. We do walk the talk by striving not only to create diversity in our organization by having more representations from under-represented groups in our industry (like female talents or early careers) but also to make sure inclusion is at the core of our policies and practices. For example, our Global Family Leave Policy defines “leave” and “family” in an inclusive way, recognizing that definitions of family, life, and work are changing every day. We foster inclusive behaviors via Unconscious Bias Training and by holding our leaders accountable to lead by example. We also encourage our employees to step up via mentoring circles such as a female initiative called How Women Rise, based on a bestseller book of the same name, where we discuss how to break hidden beliefs and habits that are holding women back in their careers.
A Culture Of Trust
If you ask randomly any 10 employees at Schneider Electric, at least 8 of them will say that they are empowered to choose how best to complete their work! And by being a certified Great Place To Work via the Trust Index Survey, it is legit for us to say that we have been fostering a culture of TRUST that allows employees to take up the initiative and make the necessary judgments to best deliver, or over-deliver, the expected results! In fact, starting from 2021, all of our employees are eligible for the Flexibility At Work Policy, allowing them to have at least 2 days working from home (or from anywhere) a week, even in a normal situation. We also empower our employees to manage their unique work and life by mandating fully paid parental, care, and bereavement leave in all countries so that everyone can spend time with their loved ones whenever needed. We even give them control of employees’ careers and development back into their hands by structuring an internal Open Talent Market where everyone can find any types of opportunities from all over the world.
Great People Make Schneider Electric A Great Company and we have been making this a reality wherever we operate. Now this Great Place To Work certification has really put a stamp on our unique culture that is inspired by a Meaningful Purpose together with Inclusive and Empowered values.
