With much of the energy we consume today produced by power plants and assets designed some 50 years ago, the technologies, design principles, and innovations we have at our fingertips today have presented us with a huge opportunity to rewrite the future of the sustainable industry and tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time.

So, how can we learn from the past and core engineering practices while creating new concepts and models that challenge our traditional way of thinking?

Five years on from the Paris Agreement, some 20 nations are moving to commit to net zero emissions by 2050. ¹ And never has the need for sustainable innovation in the field of design, engineering, and future power generation infrastructure been more crucial.  Energy production from renewable sources and the production of green hydrogen is set to dominate our future energy landscape, whilst spiking employment opportunities – with global roles in renewables predicted to leap from 11.5 million in 2019 to 42 million by 2050 ².

Applications and advancements in AI, Big Data, Cloud, IIoT, Edge, AR/VR, Process Engineering, Visualisation, Data Analysis and other emerging technologies are already driving the sustainable digitisation of industry. Who knows what the future could look like?

From weather forecasting, simulation models, to design and engineering, construction best practices, and operations optimisation, the breadth of possibility to change, improve and innovate is enormous.  Large complex conceptual ideas can be groundbreaking, but small incremental improvements can be far easier to implement – while scaling into significant opportunities for advancement. It’s important to think BIG, but also – think small.

So, don’t delay! Sign up now and start thinking about that big or small idea – and help us rewrite the future of industry.
