Attending a career fair for college students can be a stressful day. You’ll be surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of your peers and classmates, all looking to find that dream job after graduation. At this point in your career, you might not be totally comfortable dressing in a suit and walking up to a corporate recruiter trying to sell yourself as a potential employee. How can you stand out from the crowd when you’re going up against other students with similar educations and experience?
The answer is to prepare for each company you want to impress before the day of the fair. The last thing you should do is walk up to a company ambassador and ask, “So what do you guys do?” But what information should you know, and where should you look? Well if Schneider Electric is a company on your list this year, here are some resources to help you put your best foot forward on the big day.
1. Our Website
This one should be pretty obvious. If you visit schneider-electric.com you’ll find out who our company is and what we do. This is where you can find out the many products and services that Schneider Electric offers our customers, and the diverse fields we operate in. 3. Our career website
It can be difficult to talk about career opportunities if you don’t know the kinds of positions we’re looking for, and the kind of people who make our company go. The career site will give you all the information you need to learn about the various teams that make Schneider Electric the global leader in energy management. Cultural fit is important when choosing an employer, and this site will let you know if our company culture is right for you.
4. Life at Schneider Electric Blog
Our employee blog is a behind-the-scenes look at the real employees of Schneider Electric. Each post here is written by a typical employee about their experience at Schneider Electric. Here you can find stories about the men and women who represent our company culture, as well as some tips and tricks for interviewing and working for Schneider Electric.
5. Social Media

Armed with all this information, you’ll be able to set yourself apart from the pack when you talk to one of our ambassadors. Knowing who we are as an organization and how you can best fit in to help us achieve our strategic goals will give you the best chance at having a successful career fair experience. Knowing the company that you are approaching is huge, but a few other things that make a successful booth visit are being confident, comfortable and having talking points and questions ready.
Don’t forget to submit your current resume either before the fair or while visiting our booth. And while there, sign up to join one of our Talent Communities so that you can get the latest information you’ll need for your job search.
We wish you the best of luck at your next career fair and if all goes well, you might be one of our newest #SEGreatPeople!
