Navigating digital transformation: Accelerating the journey with specialized skills and technology

Letโ€™s face it. Growth and adaptation can be hard. And itโ€™s no different for businesses. Even the largest organizations go through adaptation; itโ€™s a sign of development and evolution. For industrial organizations, change means keeping pace with the expectations of Industry 4.0 with automation and digitalization of their operations. And now thereโ€™s Industry 5.0, which extends further into areas of sustainability, resilience, and well-being.

Regardless of where you are on your digital transformation initiative, itโ€™s better to view it as an ongoing journey rather than a quick trip to a single destination. There will be twists and turns, roadblocks, and roundabouts, and itโ€™s easy to get lost along the way. You likely wouldnโ€™t go on a long road trip without help from a GPS. You trust that it will provide all the directions you need to get you where you need to go โ€” safely and on time. The same is true for your digitalization journey. You need a trusted partner to help guide you in the right direction, reach key milestones on time, and offer suggestions for new destinations. The right partner can help you navigate the uncertainty that comes with change and move forward with confidence.

An end-to-end digital transformation journey partner

When faced with a major transformation, sometimes itโ€™s hard to know where to start, let alone what you might need along the way. At ZYD, we work with our customers to provide comprehensive support throughout the project lifecycle. As an Alliance Master Industrial Automation Distributor with Schneider Electric, we have the technical specializations and expertise to surpass the traditional distributor model. We offer full project supportโ€”from consultation and design to implementation and ongoing support. Because we are highly specialized in software, customers come to us knowing we can meet them wherever they are on their digitalization journey. We will tailor our engagement and solutions accordinglyโ€”thatโ€™s something that many industrial automation distributors canโ€™t or donโ€™t do.

In the consultation and design phase, we perform industry-specific analyses, leveraging data that identifies where operational improvements can be realized. Using that as our compass, we move into the implementation phase, where we help customers select the right digital solutions that will balance CapEx and OpEx while enabling efficiencies across their operations. In addition, we collaborate with system integrators to enhance project delivery, ensuring value-added services and quick issue resolution. Finally, after the upgrades are in place, we continue our support with local engineering assistance and ongoing updates to improve efficiency and reliability.

โ€œWith their deep specialization across power and automation and strong commercial coverage model,  ZYDโ€™s customers can feel confident that they have the expertise and experience to deliver future-ready solutions that evolve with technology. ZYD has been instrumental in driving digitalization for our industrial customers in China with localized solutions that are tailored to specific industries and segments,โ€ notes Mitesh Lilori, Industrial Automation Distribution & Software Director.

We understand that for our customers, โ€œseeing is believing,โ€ so we invite them to our technology hub to see and interact with Schneider Electric solutions in person. We also utilize this space for training, software demonstrations, and technical support. By bringing our customers into the lab, we can better understand their needs, build trust in our relationship, and begin to build the map for their unique digitalization journey.

Driving efficiency with digitalization

Once they have seen the possibilities of the solutions in the technology hub, customers are eager to move forward with digitalization projects to help them find and create efficiencies in time, cost, labor, processes, and more.

For example, one of our customers builds and maintains centralized heating networks for Zhoukou City. The pipelines form a long and complex web throughout the city, covering 140km and 30 square meters and requiring numerous control points. A conventional automation system would require repetitive programming for various sites, increasing both the project timeline and cost. They needed a solution to handle the massive piping network and simplify the programming task. Our customer was looking for a partner that was highly skilled in automation, with a broad portfolio of solutions and deep expertise in their industry to help solve their challenges. We could quickly roll out the application by utilizing EcoStruxureTM Automation Expert, Schneider Electricโ€™s open, software-defined automation platform, shortening the project timeline by 30%. In 2025, the project will continue with the expansion of EcoStruxure Automation Expert and the implementation of Altivar drives.

In another example, the Yancheng SK New Energy Project, a producer of more than 10GWh of lithium batteries annually for electric vehicle manufacturers, including Hyundai Motor Group, Ford, and Volkswagen, needed to quickly implement an application-specific platform solution to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize risk. ZYD collaborated with Schneider Electric, the main contractor, and the system integrator to propose and implement an integrated solution utilizing AVEVA Application Server Platform (ASP) software and a Modicon M580 Control System. AVEVA ASP acts as their new central monitoring platform, providing high-performance data acquisition, visualization, and system management, while the M580 Control System delivers exceptional flexibility and processing power for their complex industrial automation tasks. The solution, chosen for its flexibility and powerful application design, received unanimous praise from the customer and the system integrator, reinforcing Schneider Electricโ€™s reputation as a leading partner for smart manufacturing. Since project completion, Yancheng SK New Energy Project has reduced their commissioning time and future maintenance costs thanks to the integrated solution.
