Uptime Institute is partnering with Schneider Electric at the Data Center Optimization Initiative Summit, on November 30 in Washington, D.C. The global advisory firm has extensive experience in the enterprise space and will provide its perspective on best practices from the private sector that can be adopted to help meet DCOI requirements.
In particular, Matt Thoene, Senior Vice President, Global Operations, Uptime Institute, will talk about operational efficiency for IT infrastructure. According to Matt, enterprise and government data centers have a lot in common, including the ultimate goal of maximum efficiency.
He’s seen the private sector hit the mark when it comes to PUE, and now, he believes many businesses are looking to achieve even higher optimization and a greater ROI from their IT infrastructure investments. “One of the ways they’re looking to accomplish this is through higher utilization,” says Matt.
He cites a recent Wall Street Journal feature that highlighted the tens of millions of dollars in savings that financial companies have realized with disciplined server decommissioning plans.
During his presentation, he’ll talk through successful methodologies for achieving efficiency beyond PUE for DCOI compliance, provide approaches to deal with zombie servers and share real-world cases. “I’m also looking forward to speaking with attendees to find out more about their data center strategies,” says Matt.
Join federal data center managers and select industry vendor partners to discuss the importance and implications of DCOI. The Summit is being held at the Hay Adams Hotel, 800 16th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. There’s no cost to attend, but registration is required. All attendees will be offered a free PUE assessment to help take the first steps towards DCOI compliance.
