Last Wednesday The Green Grid (TGG) announced it was joining forces with Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI), merging membership and programs under The Green Grid brand and really widening the focus to span all of IT technology. The combination of these memberships and the areas of focus of these two organizations speak volumes of Schneider Electric’s own mission, to help our customers make the most of their energy, from the appliance level all the way up to holistic data center management.
CSCI has always been focused on reducing the carbon footprint of information and communications technologies by improving the energy efficiency and power management of hardware, a philosophy embraced and practiced by Schneider Electric for decades. Add to that TGG’s ongoing focus on IT, facilities and infrastructure ecosystems for which Schneider Electric’s DCIM and monitoring solutions are tailor made and you have an organization that now marries its vision and goals for the market in the same way that Schneider Electric prioritizes our own. The research and findings produced from this group are sure to complement the ongoing work of Schneider Electric, and will certainly continue to demonstrate the ability for IT enabled energy management strategies to have a profound impact on the IT industry’s ability to increase productivity, reduce energy consumption and green-house gases and operate more efficiently.
John Tuccillo is Schneider Electric’s Vice President of Global Industry and Government Alliances. He also serves as The Green Grid’s Chairman of the Board and President. John’s vision of this new chapter of TGG shows excitement for the great potential the combining of these two organizations has.
“The Green Grid and Climate Savers Computing have a long history of collaborating in our shared goal of promoting efficiency in business computing,” John said. “Welcoming CSCI’s membership and programs into The Green Grid will further accelerate our global impact and enhance our ability to affect change within the business computing industry.”
Schneider Electric shares in this excitement. TGG will certainly continue to bring together some of the brightest minds in our industry, and to now have their expanded scope encompass the entire line of our IT and Data Center offerings means that we will be able to continue to increase our voice in these critical conversations on reducing energy consumption, and benefit from the great things sure to be delivered by The Green Grid in the months and years to come.
