Hello! My name is Da-Young Kim and I work in Field Services Offer Marketing for Schneider Electric Korea. I am part of Schneider Electric’s Graduate Trainee Program named Energy Generation, and joined the company four years ago. It is truly an honor for me to be among the young talent that represents the next generation of female leaders at Schneider Electric.
Working in Services Offer Marketing
My role is in Sales & Marketing, yet what I do daily is very close to Product Marketing. I analyze market trends, identify our target customers and their needs. After that I prepare offers and define the go-to-market strategy. For instance, we are launching Asset Advisor, our first digital cloud-based monitoring in Korea and consulting service soon. It is a very exciting project as I had the chance to design the entire service package to ensure our solution is attractive to secure market share and margin.
A truly diverse working experience
Schneider Electric provides me the opportunity to learn every day and embrace new challenges. Since I joined the company, I have completed five rotations across different business units and spent six months in Vietnam as part of the Business Development team. During each rotation, I have picked up new skills and learned new competencies such as Channel Marketing, EPC Sales, or 4th Industry Revolution among others.
Vietnam is a fast-developing country, which makes it a very exciting place to learn about the business. During my stint there, I was empowered to visit important customers and participated in large bidding projects, which made my experience even more fun. Adjusting to a different environment every quarter is not easy, but I am truly grateful to Schneider for these learning opportunities. I can see that the company strongly invests in young talent to help shape their careers.
Three meaningful reasons to work for Schneider Electric
I chose to join Schneider Electric’s Fresh Graduate Trainee Program for three main reasons:
First, Schneider Electric is at the heart of the digital transformation for industrial markets. I wanted to work for a company in which I could get an overview of transforming industries and their structure.
Second, I firmly believe that our industry needs to empower more women engineers to lead the way and make an impact in the future. I knew that Schneider has a very inclusive culture and strong diversity recruitment policy, which made it a place where I could see myself growing and developing my career.
Third, Schneider’s core values and culture are real. The company strongly invests in corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, which will help contribute to a better future.
An inclusive workplace with a strong internal mobility culture
Schneider Electric is a flat organization. I can suggest ideas or provide comments to my manager anytime. My colleagues also value my opinion and make time to give me feedback and support. In addition, the average age of Schneider Electric Korea employees is quite young, so it is easy for me to connect with everyone.
Nowadays, I am very interested in our cloud-based digital offer and business model. I am planning to participate in our company start-up incubator program. It’s my ultimate goal to work at one of our USA offices, near the Silicon Valley. To do that, I will apply for our internal mobility program in a few years. I have also developed a strong interest in pricing as it is one of the most exciting fields of marketing.
