Bringing Users Together for an Enhanced DCIM Experience

Recently I spoke to Henrik Leerberg, Product Line Director for StruxureWare for Data Centers, at Schneider Electric in the European Technology Center to find out more about how the company is enabling users to take a more active role in the StruxureWare ecosystem.

I specifically asked Henrik how Schneider Electric is harnessing the collective knowledge of its users in order to enhance knowledge sharing amongst their DCIM community for the benefit of everyone?

Henrik explained that in addition to the existing support services provided to customers, a forum has now been set up to allow users to interact directly, sharing knowledge, ideas, solutions and challenges in an open environment.

By connecting users into an environment where they can communicate directly with both Schneider Electric staff and other users, it’s intended that this can help accelerate customer knowledge, facilitate connections between users, build empowerment and expertise for maximising the benefits from their Struxureware for Data Centers deployments.

Henrik was very clear that the new forum was in no way a replacement to any other form of engagement a customer has with Schneider Electric, such as support contracts, which all remain and have their own respective role to play but that this is simply an additional means of engagement. Customers can choose how and where they engage now including through the forum.

Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software suites such as StruxureWare for Data Centers are powerful tools with rich feature sets that customers learn over time what works best for their own particular management needs. It’s hoped that the online forum will enable customers to share learnings and ideas in a way that can both enhance their own value and provide guidance for other users whilst accelerating their own knowledge. Forums are well proven across many applications as a way of enabling users to communicate and share.

Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare™ for Data Centers collects and manage data about a data center’s assets, resource use and operation status throughout the data center lifecycle. This information is then distributed, integrated, and applied in ways that help managers optimize the data center’s performance and meet IT, business and service oriented goals.

It’s intended that this new forum when combined together with the existing support systems will help give customers a broader range of options to better learn new ways to operate data centers that are more reliable, efficient, productive, safe and green.

The forum will cover a wider range of product areas and Henrik explained that “it includes the entire data centre domain, in terms of facilities, buildings, power and energy, and so on. So, you can actually have one place you visit and you can go from there and find the relevant information on all the products and solutions that we have in this space here.”
