As we settle into 2025, it’s an appropriate time to reflect on the significant strides we have made with our EcoStruxure IT Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software in 2024. Our commitment to innovation and excellence has driven us to deliver a series of impactful updates and new features that have enhanced the capabilities of our software solutions.
Throughout 2024, we focused on enhancing the ability to operate IT infrastructure with resilience, security, and sustainability. I’m happy to share the highlights of how EcoStruxure IT is delivering on this vision.
Resiliency enhancements
Resiliency is the baseline of data center operations.
- NetBotz Firmware: Optimized for durability and wireless upgrades.
- Hyper-V Support: Data Center Expert now supports Hyper-V.
- IT Expert: New capabilities like Room and Rack view, live dashboard displaying warranty and service information.
Security improvements
Security is growing as a concern for the data center manager.
- ISO27001 Certification: IT Expert achieved this high level of security.
- FIPS 140-3 Cryptography: Data Center Expert enabled these modules.
- SNMPv3: Data Center Expert easy switching from SNMPv1 to SNMPv3 with a click.
Sustainability initiatives
European Union made mandatory Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) requirements for data center managers. Other regions had similar policies to focus on sustainability.
- EED Compliance: New sustainability dashboard in IT Advisor.
- Room PUE: IT Expert released a dashboard focused on Room PUE.
Monitoring and management
NetBotz has several improvements planned for 2025. Customers have requested leak rope support on the NetBotz 250A appliance and I am pleased to report that change is now in development. The TAA version of NetBotz will be released for our North American market. NetBotz and IT Expert integration is in development, and we are excited to see this released in 2025.
IT Expert will have support for NetBotz video clips, and we will focus on enhancing the NetBotz and IT Expert combined experience with configurations and firmware updates in late 2025. We see more and more large enterprise customers using IT Expert for scalability, and improving large fleet management is key focus for us. Alarms from 20K+ devices must be managed in special ways to reduce clutter and alarm fatigue. API development with webhooks for alarms and exposing more data via API endpoints are also in development as we see more and more integrations with reporting systems and dashboards.
The latest Data Center Expert release of version 8.3 revealed the first version of our new WebUI. We will continue to develop a modern WebUI for Data Center Expert to modernize its look, feel, and navigation. Each release will add more functionality to the WebUI. As part of Schneider Electric’s efforts to make our portfolio simpler to sell, buy, and manage, we will move Data Center Expert to a simplified offer structure by combining the support, license, virtual machine server, and modules into fewer packages.
Digital Twin
IT Advisor has been on a journey to modernize the look and feel with a modern WebUI during 2024, and this effort continues in 2025. We will be adding customer-requested functionalities to ITA with Busbar modelling in mid-2025. Another requested functionality is the ability to create custom reports and dashboards. We released the first version of this customization in early 2025 and will continue improvements in 2025. The integration to Data Center Expert and IT Expert has been updated and it is now possible to see live alarms in IT Advisor on site overview and room view. API improvements are also a focus on IT Advisor where we also see the increased need for integrations with other systems for enterprise alarm management and sustainability overview.
Looking ahead
As we move forward, we remain dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with EcoStruxure IT. Our focus will continue to be on delivering innovative solutions that empower our customers to manage their IT environments more effectively and securely. I like to say that the world keeps changing, but the EcoStruxure IT team’s commitment to elevate your IT infrastructure to a new level of resilience, security, and sustainability does not.
